CyCLOPS+ First Regional Stakeholder Seminar
The CyCLOPS+ project successfully organized its first Regional Stakeholder Seminar on 20 November 2025 at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), marking an important milestone in the project’s dissemination and stakeholder engagement activities.
The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including professionals, regional stakeholders, public authorities, and end-users, creating a dynamic platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. The seminar aimed to present the vision, objectives, and progress of CyCLOPS+, while highlighting its contribution to ground motion monitoring and geohazard risk management in Cyprus.
During the seminar, the CyCLOPS+ team introduced the development of the Cyprus Ground Motion Service (CyGMS), a national-scale initiative designed to provide reliable and high-quality ground displacment products. These products support critical applications such as infrastructure monitoring, spatial planning, and evidence-based decision-making for risk mitigation.
Presentations also covered:
- The overall CyCLOPS+ vision and the enhancement of the existing GNSS and InSAR infrastructure
- Optimized site selection for new monitoring equipment
- Preliminary results from the CyGMS Basic, Calibrated, and Ortho products
A key focus of the seminar was the added value of CyCLOPS+, which builds upon the established CyCLOPS infrastructure by expanding monitoring capabilities, improving data integration, and enhancing accessibility to ground motion information. Through the combined use of satellite Earth Observation data and in-situ measurements, the project strengthens Cyprus’ capacity for long-term geohazard monitoring and resilience. The event also highlighted the strong collaboration between academic, research, and industry partners, including the Cyprus University of Technology, the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence, and key professional associations. This collaboration ensures that the developed services are aligned with real operational needs and can be effectively transferred to end-users.
Through interactive discussions and engagement, participants exchanged valuable insights and explored opportunities for future collaboration. This interaction is a cornerstone of the CyCLOPS+ dissemination strategy, supporting the long-term sustainability and impact of the Cyprus Ground Motion Service.
CyCLOPS+ continues to actively engage with stakeholders, ensuring that its innovative services respond to real societal needs and contribute to a more resilient Cyprus.
