Education: Mr. Nicos Christoforou holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, a RF Diploma and a MSc in Mobile and Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey. He continued his studies at the University of Cyprus retrieving a MSc on Business Administration (MBA). Currently Mr. Christoforou is a PhD Candidate at the Cyprus University of Technology in the field of GNSS Interference and Localization under the supervision of Dr. Chris Danezis.
Professional Background: Mr. Nikos Christoforou works at Makarios Earth station of the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) for the last 20 years. He is responsible for the planning, coordination, Operations and Maintenance of the satellite services offered by Cyta. He has been involved in the installation and testing of large earth stations (3,8m to 13m), installation and testing of RF equipment. He has been assigned the role of the project manager for all the major projects that have been delivered to Cyta’s Teleports for the last fifteen years. He has been involved in the management of the personnel responsible for the Operations and Management of Satellite services. Mr. Nikos Christoforou is assigned the role of the Operations Manager of Iris Gateway Satellite Services, a 100% subsidiary of Cyta, dealing with the provision of turnaround services to the international market, and is responsible for its daily engineering operations. For several years, Mr. Nikos Christoforou was involved in the design and planning of international transmission networks. His primary task was the development of satellite earth stations infrastructure at the “Makarios” teleport. His daily activities included the preparation of Tender specifications, evaluation of Vendors bids and contract negotiations with Successful Bidders.
