SAR Geodesy

Mrs. NEREA IBARROLA SUBIZA

Researcher at DLR SAR SPD

Education:Mrs. Nerea Ibarrola Subiza holds a MSc degree in Geomatics from the Hochschule Karlsruhe and a Bachelor degree in Geodesy and Cartography from the University of Valencia.

Professional Background: From 2015 to 2018, Mrs. Subiza worked under a fellowship contract as Engineer in Geodesy in the Large-Scale Metrology Department at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Switzerland. Her main tasks were related to the feasibility study of the construction of an underground 100-km ring tunnel for the Future Circular Collider, providing studies to evaluate reference systems, including new geoid models and carrying out a research of new high-precision alignment techniques. From 2018 to 2022 she was part of the Satellite and Data Solutions Department at Sixense Goup as InSAR Engineer. She worked primarily in processing large stacks of SAR imagery to carry out InSAR studies for different applications providing ground deformation measurements with millimetric precision. She also led operational projects of InSAR monitoring systems applied to large construction projects such as Crossrail and High Speed 2 in the United Kingdom. She was involved in the development of new tools for analysis and automatization of processes, including the implementation of new scripts into the InSAR processing chain developed around the core GAMMA software. From October 2022 she joined the SAR Interferometry team in the SAR Signal Processing Department at DLR, where she is working on InSAR PSI and SAR Geodesy projects.

Research: Her main interests focus on SAR Geodesy, SAR Interferometry, Geodesy
