CyCLOPS+ at the 10th International Conference of Remote Sensing and Geoinformation of Environment – RSCy 2024

The CyCLOPS team has strongly participated at the 10th International Conference of Remote Sensing and Geoinformation of Environment in Paphos, Cyprus between 08.04.2024-09.04.2024. Totally four (4) research studies were presented as oral presentations. RSCy 2024 conference was organized under thr auspicies of H.E. the Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy. The conference covered all fields of geoinformation, environment and earth observation through remote sensing.

08 April 2024 – Hazards Special Session

  • Mr. Nikos Christoforou, PhD Candidate and member of the CUT Laboratory of Geodesy, gave a presentation entitled “Detection of GNSS Interference through a Natural Hazard Monitoring System and next steps towards the development of an Interference Early Warning System “. 
  • Mrs. Kyriaki Fotiou, Research Associate A’ at the Resilient Society Department of Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence, PhD Candidate and member of the CUT Laboratory of Geodesy lauched her findings in “Investigating the effect of the intense rainfall events in estimating the displacements of an active and fast-moving landslide using GNSS-SAR analysis: The case study of Pissouri village in Cyprus“. 

09 April 2024 – SAR Special Session

  • Dr. Chris Danezis, Associate Professor at CUT and Head of the CyCLOPS Infrastructure Unite gave an oral presentation entitled “Enhancing Geohazard Monitoring in Cyprus: from CyCLOPS to CyCLOPS+ Infrastructure Development and service expansion. He had the opportunity to promote CyCLOPS infrastructure, highlight the importance and benefit for Cyprus from the establishment of the CyCLOPS strategic infrastructure unit for natural hazards and present the new era of CyCLOPS, the CyCLOPS+ (RIF/SMALLINFRASTRUCTURES/1222/0082).
  • Mr. Dimitris Kakoullis, PhD Candidate and Researcher at the CUT Laboratory of Geodesy, presented his research activities and findings through the “Sentinel-1A Assessment Results using SAR Corner Reflectors by means of the CyCLOPS Strategic Infrastructure Unit in Cyprus“.
