Education:  Dr. Kyriacos Themistocleous holds a PhD from the Cyprus University of Technology in Remote Sensing and GIS (2011), a Masters of Architecture in Urban Design from the University of Oklahoma, USA (1993) and a Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Louisiana, USA (1991).

Professional Background: Dr. Themistocleous has worked in the industry for over 27 years with experience in architecture, urban design & planning, environmental projects, GIS projects, remote sensing, cultural heritage, real estate and energy efficiency. He has also worked on a number of projects focused on architecture, urban planning, life cycle cost, geomatics, GIS, cultural heritage and environmental applications both in Cyprus and abroad. Dr. Themistocleous is President of the Cyprus Remote Sensing Society, member of the Executive Council and General Council of the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) and member of the Cyprus Architect Association. He is also participating in the special committee of the Department of Transportation, Ministry of Public Works, Cyprus for Space, in relation with the European Space Agency and is the national representative of Cyprus for the Copernicus User Forum.

Research: His research includes aerial and satellite remote sensing, GIS, spectroscopy, sustainable development, geophysics, BIM, life cycle cost, cultural heritage and environmental sciences. Dr. Themistocleous has collaborated in over 30 national and European research projects, including HORIZON2020, FP7, FP6, LIFE+, ERASMUS+, MED, INTERREG, EUREKA, COST, JPI, etc. Currently, he has over 250 publications in peer‐reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. He is the Organizer and Chair of the International Conference on Remote Sensing and Geo‐information (RSCy2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018) (co‐organised by ESA and published by SPIE). As well, he has participated as chairman in several international conferences as well as reviewer and editor for several scientific journals.
